Mutualism
Mutualism occurs when to organism are both benefited from one another. An example of this is cleanser shrimp they feed from the remains in bigger fish’s mouths, making the fishes month clean. The Japanese tsunami killed off many of these bigger fish leaving these cleanser shrimp foodless.
Commensalism
The picture on the left is a perfect example of commensalism, the tiny worm like creators are called ophiuroids they are wrapped around the sea stars spines. They do not affect the sea star in any way but they are benefited from the sea stars, because they feed from their remains. The Japanese tsunami will affect this population because it is killing of its way of getting food.
Parasitism
Parasites attach themselves to other animals and feed on them causing them great damage but rarely killing them. Such as leeches and isopods which attach themselves to fish, like the lionfish, and feed on their blood and flesh in order to survive. The Tsunami killed off many of these parasites, because it killed many of their host, making it hard for them to survive.
Predation
Predation is when one consumer eats another consumer. An example of predation is the sea lion which eats the sea otter. The sea otter was affected greatly by the Japanese tsunami it killed of a great part of its population, leaving the sea lion with little to eat.
Herbivory
Herbivores are animals that feed on producers, such as the crab which feed on algae. The Japanese tsunami blocked the sunlight from reaching the algae kill many of it off, leaving the crab with little food, for its survival.
